The Heart & Hearth Cafe located on the 2nd floor of the Health Centre, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m, Monday to Friday; 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Satuday and Sundays; Closed on Holidays, serving a variety of salads, sandwiches, desserts and beverages, as well as hot food items. Tim Hortons is located in the Gallery of the Richard B. Goldbloom Research and Clinical Care Pavilion, off of University Avenue and is open from 6:30 a.m. until midnight, seven days a week.
A Subway restaurant located in the Gallery of the Richard B. Goldbloom Research and Clinical Care Pavilion. It is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Located in the IWK Gallery within the Dr. Richard B. Goldbloom Research and Clinical Care Pavilion. The shop sells a variety of items for all occasions and ages, including: fresh flowers, ballons, gift baskets, toys, magazines, essentials for new moms, and much more.

Biggs & Littles Gift Shoppe is owned and operated by the IWK Auxiliary. All proceeds from the shop are donated back to the IWK. To date Biggs and Littles has raised over $1.6 Million.
Located just outside the Women’s Building entrance, 5980 University Avenue, the Newman Memorial Gardens provides a peaceful atmosphere for patients and their families to enjoy. Generously donated by Barbara Newman, in memory of her late husband, Norman Newman, the Gardens opened in September 1999.
When weather permits, families are encouraged to use the Playgarden in front of the Children’s Building entrance, 5850 University Avenue. It provides an outdoor environment for children and families for play and is a refreshing change from the Health Centre environment. The Playgarden was generously funded by the IWK Auxiliary.
The Playgarden is staffed by the IWK Child Life Department who are trained in play and youth programming.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides an oasis of calm and support right inside the walls of a hospital, allowing families to be just steps away from their child receiving medical care. Located inside the IWK Health Centre, the Family Room includes four bedrooms, a living room, art room, kitchen/dining area, computers and laundry facilities. Installed as a recognition vehicle for donors to the IWK capital campaign launched in 1988, the fish tank located in the Children's Building lobby has become a favourite visiting spot for children and adults alike. This serene escape is a place for caregivers and families to take inpatients for a little stroll or for young ones to drop by during a visit. Whatever the reason for being at the IWK, this popular landmark is sure to lighten your mood.
Dedicated to all the children who raise money in support of the IWK, this newly installed fish tank will surely attract the eye of many. During a visit, you may see some school groups having their photo taken in front of this fish tank when they deliver the funds they have raised in support of the Health Centre. Everyone at the IWK is always welcome to drop by to enjoy this beautiful feature.
Want to see who in your community has supported the IWK? Drop by the donor display in the Dr. Richard B. Goldbloom Pavilion. Listed on the colourful sails are those donors whose annual support helps the Foundation fund priorities at the Health Centre. The hand-painted mural displays a Maritime theme and all children enjoy the freedom of playing in and around the unique sails.
Officially opened in October 2000, the Model Railway brings the world of transportation to all who visit the IWK. Located on the first floor, near the South Street entrance, Children’s Building, this Model Railway is run by volunteers from The Model Railway Association, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 11 am. Funded by the IWK Auxiliary and the CN Railway, this project is always changing with new style layouts, engines and interactive buttons. Be sure to drop by!
The Family Resource Library is your special library. It provides health information, written in easy-to-understand language, for patients, families and friends, and serves as a resource for staff.
The library collects books, videos, cassettes and pamphlets about specific illnesses, child development, parenting, women’s health issues and community support groups. There is a section of French books, videos and pamphlets as well as a multicultural collection of children's picture books in Mi'kmaq, Simplified Chinese and Arabic.
Videos and video games are available from the library during the week and through Child Life on the weekends.
