What is ERAS at the IWK?

ERAS at the IWK brings patients, physicians and clinical care teams together to implement ERAS international guidelines for Gynaecology and Uro-Gynaecology Surgery. This involves changes to surgical practices, nursing care and quality improvements that benefit patients.

Each year, approximately 2000 gynaecology and 500 uro-gynaecology surgeries are performed at the IWK.  IWK is the first health centre in Nova Scotia to start an ERAS program.
