In late December as we began to think about this year’s AGM none of us could have envisioned how different it would be from what we had become accustomed to in the past and how much change we would experience in a such a short time.
It seems somewhat contradictory to think of the last three months in terms of connection when we as a society have been living in self-isolation, social-distancing, working from home and being restricted in gathering. Yet this physical distancing has led to a unique experience of increased caring and support, a visible effort to reconnect in virtual ways and the opportunity to slow down.
As we close this year and look to a future that still remains uncertain and likely to continue to change we leave you with the words of Nelson Mandela who in speaking of connection said “Our human compassion binds us the one to the other — not in pity or patronizingly, but as human beings who have learnt to turn our common suffering into hope for the future.”
